India's premier mega-geoscience conference & exhibition GeoIndia 2018, organized by the Association of Petroleum Geologists (APG) India, is designed to focus on all aspects related to petroleum geosciences and E & P thus providing a unique forum for geoscience professionals, business groups and stakeholders to discuss and comprehend the wide spectrum of issues related to India’s energy future. The theme : “Transforming Energy Spectrum: Geosciences at the fulcrum” aptly sums up the ambitious yet focused scope of the conference.
The Pre Conference CE Courses, held on the 4th September 2018, for GEO India 2018, are a precursor to the gala event scheduled from the 6th to 8th September 2018. A total of 14 short courses were held encompassing a wide spectrum of topics related to the oil and gas industry, starting from more conventional genres like reservoir evaluation, seals and plays, advances in seismic reservoir characterization and geomechanics, to even artificial intelligence and data analytics in E&P industry, as well as global petroleum economics.
An eminent panel of faculty members, each a stalwart in his own field and members of renowned industrial and academic enterprises like Schlumberger, CGG Veritas, Paradigm, etc., exposed the participants to the latest trends, innovations and technology prevalent in the industry. The event was wholeheartedly attended by more than 350 participants belonging to various private as well as public sector enterprises such as Reliance Industries Ltd., Cairn India Ltd., OIL, IOCL, ONGC, OVL, etc.
Two parallel valedictory sessions, held at Hotel Holiday Inn and Hotel Pride Plaza, New Delhi, marked the successful conclusion of these CE Courses. The valedictory session at Hotel Pride Plaza was honoured by the presence of Dr. N. K. Verma, Chairman, GEO India 2018, while the one at Hotel Holiday Inn was graced by the presence of Patron - APG India, Shri A. K. Dwivedi and President - APG India, Shri M. Ayyadurai. The participants were awarded their course certificates by respective faculty members. The faculty members were also awarded mementos as tokens of respect and appreciation from the organizers.
The highly experienced and qualified faculty at all the courses evoked much awe and appreciation for their technical acumen and the feedback from participants was excellent. There was all-round appreciation and satisfaction among the participants as well and as such, gratifying for the event organizers - APG India. The event thus was a grand success, and a definite bright precursor to the forthcoming GEO India 2018. This unique platform extended by APG India is expected to greatly help facilitate awareness of the latest advances in the oil and gas industry among all stakeholders.
